I met up with my friend Lisa at the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro. ( http://www.discoverycenteronline.org/index.htm ) It's a really cool place for kids of all ages and stages. It provides a ton of interactive exhibits that teach children about science and technology. They even have a 2 story corkscrew slide. Andrew LOVED that. Andrew had a blast there, and so did I. We even had a picnic lunch outside at their playground. We plan to become members in the next month or so.
We came home just in time for the kids' nap. Tonight was Mom's Night Out...Fondue Night. YUMMY! I spent the kids' naptime making my favorite dippable: Oreo Covered Marshmallows. I got the idea from The Melting Pot in Nashville. ( http://themeltingpot.com/ )This is how I do it:
- Put Oreo cookies in a food processer (filling and all). Crush as fine as you can. Place Oreo crumbs on a plate.
- Take large marshmallows and drop into a bowl of water. Roll the marshmallow around until it gets a little slippery. This only takes about 30 seconds or so.
- Roll wet marshmallows in Oreo cookie crumbs.
- Place covered marshmallows on a cooling rack for a couple hours to dry.
- Eat until you POP!

It's a little messy and time consuming, but so worth it. Andrew woke up as I was finishing them, and he had a few Oreos with milk. Mike taught him to dunk his Oreos like a man. Here's a picture of the carnage. >>>>>>>
Thanks Mike!
Fondue Night was awesome. Well, minus the cop incident. Lesson of the week: don't ever cut off a cop. It makes them snarl. Fortunately I only got a warning, but it took them 15 minutes to even do that. We finally got to our friend Meredith's house. She is on our Mom's board and just moved here from the Sacramento area as well. Small world, huh? After gorging ourselves on various chocolate and cheese fondues and countless dippables, we finally left around 9:30. There was a futile attempt to watch American Idol. I haven't followed the show all season, so I didn't see the point in trying it tonight.
Mike and Andrew went to our small group tonight. (Alie was with me). There weren't really enough people there to continue with the lesson, so they humerously enough watched American Idol as well, and pigged out on ice cream, brownies, and other sugar-laced treats. We'll pick up our lesson plan next week instead.
That's it, I'm hitting the hay. It's after midnight!
