Happy Mothers' Day!

Today was Mothers' Day. We didn't do a whole lot today, but had fun with what we did. We went to church in the morning and dedicated the kids at the baby/child dedication. They dedicated 14 kids today, and wouldn't you know it was our three-year-old who stood out from the crowd? Andrew was a complete ham on stage. It was cute...he'd point to someone in the audience that he knew, then would start waving like mad in hopes that they would wave back. Natalie couldn't have cared less. She fell asleep while we were standing on stage.

I was super excited to see Mike's video being shown today at church. (Neither of us knew before-hand that it would actually be used.) He worked really hard to make an inspirational video to encourage men to go to the upcoming mission trip to Slidell, LA. The men will be going next week to help clean up and rebuild homes in this Hurricane Katrina ravaged city. The video was a montage of post-Katrina images, interviews, and photos of Slidell. We have some people in our congregation who have roots there, and I even saw a few men in tears. WOW! This was Mike's first attempt at anything like this, and I'd say it was a success.

We met up with some friends at Miller's Country Cafe in Christiana. It's about 25 minutes from our house, and is authentic Country food. This picture is of the restaurant. You can enlarge it by clicking on the picture. I know the Californians are tempted to laugh. I would have taken pictures of the inside, but was afraid I'd look like a complete tourist if I did. I was surprised (and relieved) to see that there were no frog legs at the buffet table. Perhaps they're a regular menu item instead??? The tables inside are regular dining tables from multiple sources. The meal was complete with styrofoam plates and canned soda. (I am not kidding!) The food was awesome though. Mike and I ate most everything that was available at the buffet...mainly because we had no idea what half the dishes were. The closest thing I could compare it to was a huge potluck dinner where everyone brought their downright BEST dishes. Except I don't remember paying up the Ying-Yang for a potluck dinner. Our favorite dishes were the broccoli salad (total surprise), hot spinich/artichoke dip, pecan pie, and Snicker's cake.

After lunch we came home and hung out with some neighbors outside. It was fun, but getting cold. The weather's been really weird today. Getting colder as the day goes on, drizzling, and windy. Definitely not good skirt and high-heeled sandal weather. Ah well, live and learn.
