Once again, the Uncle Dave Macon Days festival has descended upon Murfreesboro. We attended our first one last year and had more fun than we expected. Uncle Dave Macon Days (UDMD for the lazy) is a national competition for Old Time Banjo, Clog Dancing, and Buckdancing. It takes place in Cannonsburgh village (the original name for Murfreesboro was Cannonsburgh).Mike, Andrew, Natalie, and I decided to check it out today. Unfortunately today was warmer than yesterday. Naturally we found that out once we arrive at Cannonsburgh village. We walked around in the heat and crowds and paid rediculous prices for food. All in all, mission accomplished.
Mike and I liked learning about the history of Uncle Dave Macon and the festival. It was pretty cool seeing all the bands rehearse on the porches of historic log cabins and such. Bands would pick wherever they could to have a jam session...usually on a porch or under a large tree.
Here is yet another shutterfly album to see the rest of today's pictures. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AcuGbdo2cNmIx¬ag=1

I have some historical facts about Uncle Dave. He used to run moonshine with my great-grandpa ;)
Ha ha! That's great. What a colorful history.
Is it wrong to just love her boo boo face #2 when scared about the car horn? Those were good & I've been in middle tn for 7 years and have never been to that festival.
I love that picture too. The poor thing. How mean is that?
