Today was a really good day. We started out at the gym around 8:15. Miracles really do happen! We then came home and hung out on the front porch for an hour and a half. It was beautiful out. Andrew played with his bubbles, trike, chalk, etc. The dog was out there on her leash and Natalie was in her exersaucer. I had my trusty laptop and a tv tray. Everyone was HAPPY! The breeze was perfect and it was so nice to get some fresh air. Our neighborhood is pretty quiet during the day, so it was just us out there.
Andrew has taken to a new game of sorts. He calls it "Be Like Sister Alie". He mimics little things that she does, even when she's not around. Sometimes he'll kick his feet, or jerk his arms around...just like she does. He'll even grab at his toys like she does. Each time he proclaims "Be Like Sister Alie!" just before doing it. It's pretty funny.
He absolutely ADORES his little sister. He's always concerned with where she is. She can be in her crib and he'll ask me "where's Alie?" When I pick him up from the daycare at the gym, he'll say "go get baby sister". I tell him it's illegal to forget her, but he doesn't quite get that yet. If she drops a toy from her exersaucer or johnny jump up, he'll run over to get it for her. (Great for dear old mom.) The adoration is mutual. Her little face brightens up with that huge gummy smile everytime she sees him. I just hope this lasts.
So I just re-read that and realized that it makes my life sound sickeningly sweet. It's not always that perfect. There are times he's told me "mommy, put baby sister down right NOW!" (while pointing at the carpet). He also gets territorial over this stuffed Lady dog that he has. Technically it's hers...it was a shower gift for her. Andrew saw it and fell in love immediately. Ok, fine. Take it. She was 7 weeks old at the time. Well, now she's eyeballing it and laughs at it. Andrew was fine and dandy with all this, until Alie started chewing on Lady's paw. Let's just say that Andrew threw a conniption fit. It was still sort of funny though.
We had some neighbors stop by around 5pm. It was nice to have people just pop by and not be panicked by the state of my house. We ended up doing a Fend for Yourself night for dinner before Andrew and I made a quick trip to PetSmart for dogfood. Oh, and that perfect weather we had at 10 am was so blech by 7 pm. It's so humid right now that air conditioning is a definite must have. Certainly not an open window night.

That's hilarious about him moving like her! LOL So sweet that he loves her so much. I thought it was extremely muggy out today. I'm just all around hot lately anyway. Kaity loves to share her toys with Jake too but she gives me strict directions not to let him "chew" on it! LOL Like he'd play with it any other way!!!
love that sibling love!!
That is so sweet how much he loves his little sister. Don't you just wish it would last? lol
