I am Now a "Stay At Home Mom"

Three years ago I became a Stay-At-Home Mom, although I've rarely "stayed" at home. Usually I was running around: running errands, going to playdates, cleaning a house or two, essentially doing just about anything that needed to be done whenever it needed to be done.

Now, I am truly "staying" at home. It started as an effort to save on gas money, which paid off. We went two full weeks without needing to refuel the Blazer. Awesome! I did this by mandating two to three 'stay home' days each week. Then the Blazer broke. Now we're sharing an unreliable car with no air conditioning. I have no desire to take the kids anywhere in this heat (mid 90's with horrible humidity) in a non-air conditioned car with one window that doesn't roll down, a transmission that's trying to go out, and electrical problems. Oh wait...am I whining? Sorry. Hey, at least I caught myself this time.

So, at home it is. We've made a comfortable routine of staying here. The kids haven't killed each other (yet). I have a lot of friends in the neighborhood so that at least is a plus.

We got a call from our mechanic. They hadn't looked at our Blazer yet (being as we had no appointment, we just had the tow truck dump it off there). They said that "if" it were the fuel pump, then we were looking at repairs in the ballpark of $900. Oh vey! We can pay that, although we really don't relish the thought of that. I'd rather light the thing on fire and get something else. *sigh*
