Wednesday at Work

I spent today at 'work'. (Cleaning a house). I have a sense of pride that I'm a working girl again. Well, not that kind of working girl, rather one who works for pay in a respectable fashion.

For some absolutely sick reason, I think I like cleaning houses. Sure, I hate cleaning my own, but there is some attraction to cleaning somebody else's. Perhaps it's the money, but I think it's more rooted in the ability to help others accomplish something that they want, but can't do for themselves. Be it physical limitations, lack of time, or a hatred of the duldrum...I help bring the desired affect to a person's home. I like them feeling proud of where they live. I also love the fact that I can't get distracted by clutter or laundry (the two huge bains of my household). In somebody else's home, it's not my place to re-organize their mess.

So today, I spent five hours cleaning one average sized home. It was the first cleaning. so I'm praying that's why it took so long. I was thinking it would take three hours, but alas it morphed into five.

Right now, I have one house a week for the next month, and then it drops down to one house every two weeks. Kristy (friend from church) is looking to offload a couple of her clients on somebody, so I might be getting one or two of them. We'll have to see if this is the start of a great thing or not. Wish me luck!

I think that's awesome that you're making extra money (wait a minute, was that Doug who said that?) and most importantly that you're enjoying it (that part was definitely me). I love checking out other people's houses!
