Monterey!

I got a text message from my brother Brian last night. All it said was "I'm going to Monterey." My jaw absolutely dropped to the ground. No, this wasn't just a simple weekend getaway to the Central California oceanside town that he was bragging about. It is his CHP assignment!


After graduating the California Highway Patrol Academy in October, he will be exiled to the tourist mecca of Monterey. I am so JEALOUS!!! We always chided Brian about how his karma would come to haunt him, and that he would be assigned to the likes of Compton, East LA, Oakland, or some other horrid place (Fresno anyone?).

But no. My lucky dog of a brother gets sent to one of the most beautiful places on Highway 1. Excuse me while a bang my head against the wall for a bit. Secretly I am extremely relieved to know that he will be yucking it up at snob hill. I figure a slum in Monterey is far more desirable than any mansion in Compton. Wait...do those even exist???

I'll try to remember that as he passes his days off at nearby Pebble Beach. Ugh!
