She Eats, He Poops. It's a Great Day!

Today was a pretty good day, as if you couldn't tell from the title. Ha ha.

Miss Natalie would not eat babyfood for the LONGEST time. The only thing she would open her mouth for were avocado and banana. I even stopped my homemade babyfood concoctions, thinking that it was my cooking that was bad. Nope, no dice. It was a major battle trying to get 4 or so bites in her, just so I could get through the allergy testing. So after nearly 3 1/2 months of wasting babyfood and time, the child EATS. Thanks Stacie for telling me this would happen. (Her son did the same thing). The last three things we've fed her, she's eaten nearly all of it. YEEEHHAAAA!!! Much better than her one little taste followed by pursed lips and turning away from the spoon. It's pretty hard to feed a moving target.

OK, just kidding. It's not that bad, but I will be talking about poo a lot. If you don't like that thing, you may want to tune out...
As for Sir Andrew, we've decided to get hardcore about the potty thing. We've been taking things at his speed now most of the time. Every once in awhile we would force him to sit on the potty for #2, then we would feel like we were being bad and mean. Especially when 2 hours and 5 bajillion tears would pass. Then it was back to the "do it at your own pace buddy". He's been potty trained for pee for about five months now. I'd read that the "other" usually followed a few months after they learned to pee in the potty. As of a few days ago, he would still demand a pull-up to do his deed. We finally decided enough was enough...no more pull-ups. I figured it would be a long and dirty week, but it would be the best for all of us.
Well, now he's in preschool (more on that in the next post) and they require him to be fully potty trained to stay in the program. They said they'd try it for a week and see how he did. Day #1 resulted in some soiled underwear (he NEVER does that in his underwear. Grrrrr). Not to mention, I had sent some pull-ups just in case. The school week is only 2 days long, and I was nervous that he would get suspended on a pooping violation. Now you'd think I would have just sent him in a pull-up to school. Oh contraire...the boy doesn't even bother to go pee in the potty if he's wearing a pull up. And just for the record, I'm not trying to force this on him because of preschool. It's been an issue at church as well, and he's 3 1/2. Plus I'm feeling like we're enabling his poopy pants syndrome by supplying him the goods.
All this to say >>>>Andrew poo'ed in the potty today. YIPPEEEEE! Of course it involved an hour or so of reading, calming, talking, persuading, bribing, etc (all great parental tools by the way). He was very determined not to give in, but eventually gravity and bowel pressure prevailed. He was rewarded with a bribe prize and TONS of praise. He's excited about it, so hopefully we can whittle our "can time" down to a mere 45 minutes or so for the next time. Never in my life have I been so excited to hear that tell-tale splash in the water.

Love the wording, you're too funny! Glad one is eating and the other is letting the food out.
