The kids are obsessed with the music group Casting Crowns. Every single time we get into the Blazer, they start asking if I can play them. (Alie calls them "Cass Cwowns"). We have a CD in the truck that has a variety of songs on it...only one of them by Casting Crowns (East to West). I think it's neat that they beg for me to play contemporary Christian songs for them, so fine.
Well, tonight Mike was at the computer. We're going through our music library and changing things around for our IPod Shuffles. Andrew ran in there today to request Casting Crowns again. Alie was close at his heels. Mike played it and then Andrew started singing loudly some of the lyrics. Alie chimed in where she could. I was shocked because, although I know Andrew heard the song at least 85 times a day, I had no idea that he could actually sing back the lyrics with pinpoint accuracy. So from the office I could hear a very loud rendition: "You know how faaaarrr the East is from the Wessssttt...from one scarred hand to the otherrrrr!" My little five year old was belting out lyrics about a subject which many adults don't fully grasp. It was cute, funny, and touching all at once. All I could do was laugh, because the cacophony known as the Mike, Andrew, and Alie trio was heartwarming and hysterical all at once.
