Sorry for freaking everybody out yesterday. I was woken up at 4 am to a crying Andrew. He was saying that his leg was hurting and so was his head. (He had a thick pillow, so I figured that caused the headache). We gave him some ibuprofen and I brought him down to the hide a bed around 5:45. I truly expected another day much like the past several. Andrew shocked me when he asked for breakfast. His appetite has been horrible, so I was excited he was asking for food.
He tried to sit up on his own (not attempted in 3 days). Rather than lay down and eat, he wanted to sit up on the couch (not the bed) and eat breakfast there. Yeah!
He then went about crawling across the couch to get to the other side of it. Again, this would not have been considered yesterday. He even attempted some feeble steps a little later.
My huge shocker was when I decided to take the kids for a walk with the stroller. I went out to the truck to get the stroller, and Andrew had walked halfway across the room by the time I got back. We ran into a neighbor on our walk, and Andrew really wanted to play on their tricycle. I asked him if he thought he could and he assured me he could. He limped painfully over there and got on. He took off on that thing so fast I was expecting a puff of dust to pop up behind him. He was loving every minute of it, and I could tell he felt so FREE. Our neighbor knew what had been going on with him, so she offered to let us borrow the trike for a couple of days.
By the end of the night, he was even going up and down the stairs on his own. Slow, but still!
My doctor's office never called me about the blood work, but it all worked out because I had to take Alie in for croupy cough, fever, and labored breathing. (Yes, this is surely going to be known as the week from HELL...3 co pays in 1 week. Mortgage? What mortgage? Sheesh!) Oh, back to my point. I took Alie in at 4:15pm and asked them to check into the blood work results while we were there. They said the blood work was negative, so no crazy infection.
I truly think this whole thing was what Riki e-mailed me (see previous post). I am so glad that this is behind us for the most part. I can finally put away the fleeting paranoid mom thoughts of polio, meningitis, and who knows what else. I can't wait for everyone else to get better (yes, Mike is sick too) so that I can FINALLY relax...and succumb to the sickies myself. Isn't that how it always works? Mike kids me about my Robo-immune system. We're chalking it up to pregnancy and prenatal vitamins because I seriously should have caught a slew of nastiness by now.
