Lots of News!

Baby Update - I had an ultrasound today to date the pregnancy. I am only 8 weeks, 3 days! You wouldn't know it because my stomach sticks out further than my...uh...top half, but I guess that's not saying a whole lot. The baby looks great and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. Oh, and there's only ONE little sweet baby in there...not twins like everyone was betting.

The estimated due date is 4/20/08. Please, let's hope not. That's the same day as the notorious pot-smoker's reference ("everyone smokes pot at 4:20 pm"). It's also the same day as Hitler's birthday and the Columbine shooting. I guess the world can do with a little bit of cheer that day, but if I had any say in the matter, I'd love to deliver a month early. :)

Mike showed Andrew the ultrasound pictures this evening and was pointing out the baby's head and the baby's foot. I was sitting on other end of the couch during this. Right after Andrew saw the pictures, he hurried over to me. He put his hands on my belly and looked up at my eyes and said "mommy, your baby is so COOL!" He was so innocent and so full of awe. It completely melted my heart.

I changed OB/GYNs yesterday. It's a long story, but I wasn't too impressed with my old OB/GYN practice. Their office staff can be so rude and dismissive about your concerns. So, they don't need my business. I will be going to Dr. Riley who has rights to StoneCrest (where we delivered Alie). He delivers his own patients unlike the other place...you just get whoever's on call that night. It will be nice to have a doctor who's more personal and concerned about you. And they're FAST...they scheduled me for an appointment on Monday. Yippeee!

Andrew - The poor kid. His eyes are swollen practically shut again. That and they're pink/purple (on the swollen parts). I'm sure it's allergy related, but the readings were all really low today. He's had this happen a handful of times, and it usually lasts about 3 days or so. (It happened last time we were in CA). I get so frustrated for him because he looks awful, and I'm sure it hurts. He's such a good sport about it, even when people freak out and say "what happened to you???" He just says "it's just my allergies". But I see him looking in the mirror at his face, and I know he doesn't totally understand it.

We're treating it with Patenol (anti-histamine eye drops that cost a buttload), and Benadryl and cool washcloths. I just feel badly for him. Poor guy!

We Made Front Page News! - Yesterday there was a community fair in rememberance of 9/11. Last year they had 5,000 people attend. It's held at the local Sheriff's office and had a field full of bounce houses, lots of booths, a petting zoo, a little train kids could ride, firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, K-9 cops, the mounted sheriff patrol, helicopters, a huge tank, soldiers, etc. The place was amazing! Anyway, a local newspaper reporter interviewed us and then started out his story with us. How crazy is that??? Here's a link. http://dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070912/NEWS01/709120319/1002 There's no picture of us in the paper though, but I still feel all self-conscious that we were on the front page of our newspaper. Here are a few of our own pictures (courtesy of my camera phone):
